THE ROLE
At Ace Hardware Big Sky the most important thing we do every day is help people. Not process transactions. Not move inventory. Help people. We're looking for a Customer Service Associate who genuinely enjoys working with the public, takes pride in knowing their products, and understands that in a community like Big Sky — where contractors, property managers, homeowners, and outdoor enthusiasts all depend on us — being truly helpful is what separates a good hardware store from a great one.
This role is as varied as Big Sky itself. One hour you're helping a local contractor track down a specific fastener for a luxury resort project. The next you're helping a first-time homeowner figure out which paint finish works best for a mountain cabin. The next you're helping a seasonal worker grab supplies for their new apartment. No two customers are the same — and that's exactly what makes this job worth showing up for every single day.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Greet every customer with genuine warmth and a willingness to help — no exceptions
- Guide customers through the store to find exactly what they need — confidently and accurately
- Develop working knowledge of our product categories — tools, hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint, outdoor gear, and more
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and maintain a clean and well-presented store environment
- Receive and process incoming inventory accurately and efficiently
- Assist with special orders, product locating, and customer inquiries
- Support teammates across departments during busy periods
- Operate the point of sale terminal accurately when needed
- Represent Ace Hardware Big Sky's commitment to award-winning customer service on every shift
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Genuine enthusiasm for helping people — this is the single most important qualification
- Strong communication skills and a naturally approachable personality
- Physical stamina — this role involves standing, walking, lifting, and stocking throughout every shift
- Reliability and consistency — Big Sky depends on us and we depend on you
- Willingness to learn — product knowledge comes with time and we invest in training the right people
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred but not required
- Availability for weekday and weekend shifts including early mornings — we open at 7am Monday through Friday
