THE ROLE
You're the first face guests see when they walk into The Riverhouse — and the last impression they carry out the door. We're looking for a Host who brings genuine warmth, unflappable composure, and the kind of natural hospitality that makes a packed house feel welcoming instead of overwhelming.
The Riverhouse doesn't take reservations — everything is first come, first served — which means our Host position is as dynamic as it gets. You're managing waitlists, setting expectations, turning tables, and keeping the energy positive even when the wait is long and the dining room is packed. It takes a special kind of person to do that well. If that's you — we want to meet you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Greet every guest with genuine warmth and enthusiasm the moment they walk through the door
- Manage waitlists and seating rotation during high-volume service with accuracy and fairness
- Communicate wait times honestly and positively — setting realistic expectations without killing the excitement
- Coordinate with servers and floor management to maximize seating efficiency
- Answer phones and respond to questions about the menu, hours, events, and location
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front-of-house environment throughout service
- Support event coordination for private dining and special occasions
- Be the calm at the center of a very fun, very busy storm
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Previous hosting or front-of-house experience preferred — genuine hospitality instincts are equally valued
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a naturally warm, approachable personality
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and positive during high-pressure, high-volume service
- Strong communication skills — with guests, servers, and kitchen team alike
- Flexibility for evening, weekend, and holiday availability during peak season
- Comfort with basic technology for waitlist and reservation management
- Bilingual skills a plus — Big Sky welcomes guests from around the world
THE RIVERHOUSE DIFFERENCE
Hosting at The Riverhouse means being the face of Big Sky's most beloved restaurant — a place guests talk about for years after their visit. It means working in a community where the people are real, the food is exceptional, and the setting is extraordinary.
You'll finish your shift and step outside to one of the most beautiful mountain communities in America. That's not a small thing.
Come as you are. Find your season.
